After my Winter capsule challenge, I started thinking about warmer weather and what some of my “must have” items would be if I were creating a capsule. Mind you, it has snowed 3 out of the past 7 days so warmer weather doesn’t exactly feel close haha But I do like to plan ahead for seasons; see what I feel is missing from my wardrobe (I try everything on like shorts and swimsuits to see what still fits well!).
I recently discovered the brand Quince and fell hard. Sustainable, ethical, high quality fabrics, timeless pieces… and affordable?! I thought it was too good to be true but then I ordered this hoodie, these joggers and this tee and they’re SO good! Safe to say I’m a Quince fan and plan on buying some staples for the warmer months. The one downside to this brand is it only goes up to size XL. I know, I know, unacceptable. I’ve contacted them multiple times to ask if they plan on expanding because XL is not cutting it! For a wider size range check out Parade, Girlfriend Collective, Knix, Pact, Universal Standard, Yes Friends, Two Days Off, Kotn, Able.

That said, you can create this capsule wardrobe using items from anywhere… including secondhand! Having a list like this makes it really easy to narrow down your shopping list. Often when I go thrifting I go with specific items in mind so that I’m not tempted to buy all of the things. Or if you’re saving up for more of an investment piece, this can help you figure out which items are worth that investment. And don’t forget to shop your closet first! I know I already own similar items to some of these items that I won’t be replacing right now.
When you create a capsule, think about what activities you tend to do and what clothes you feel most like yourself in. Maybe you’d rather have a muscle tank than a silk cami or more shorts and no dresses- totally up to you! Think of my list as a simple guide that you can tweak to your liking. I also didn’t add athletic clothes, pajamas etc but Quince does carry some great options!
Clothing (all from Quince)
Silk camisole
Jumpsuit
Tank dress
Light cardigan
White tshirt
One strap tank top
Jacket
Short sleeve blouse
Silk skirt
Bodysuit
Linen pants
Linen shorts
Shoes
Sandals (Everlane) or a pair of heels
Water sandals (Teva)
White sneakers (Allbirds)
Here are 12 looks you can make with these items but of course there are many more! I often find choosing as many items as days so here there’s 12 items (plus shoes) and 12 outfits. I really like this for traveling! This doesn’t mean that for an entire Summer you need, like, 90 items though because at that point you’re going to be repeating outfits more often.
I love Quince. Have ordered Mongolian cashmere sweaters from them and love them. That was before they changed their name. I can’t remember the original one right now. :)
